Medical weight loss starts with a consultation
Weight-loss injections can only be scheduled after a consultation confirms they're appropriate for you. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are prescription medications, and eligibility is determined after a medical consultation.
How scheduling works
- Schedule a Free Virtual Consultation (in our booking page, choose Consultations โ Weight Loss Consultation).
- After your consultation confirms you're a good fit, you can schedule your weekly injection visits.
Weight Loss FAQs
1) What are semaglutide and tirzepatide?
They are prescription medications in the GLP-1 family (tirzepatide also acts on GIP). They work with the body's appetite signals and slow how quickly food leaves the stomach, which can help people feel full sooner and eat less. They are given as a once-weekly injection under the skin.
2) Do I still need to focus on nutrition and exercise?
Yes. These medications are not a shortcut on their own. They work best alongside balanced, protein-rich meals, good hydration, sleep and regular activity, which also helps protect muscle as you lose weight. We'll help you build those habits.
3) Who may be a candidate?
Adults whose health history, weight and goals make a GLP-1 medication appropriate, as determined by our medical provider at your consultation. We don't prescribe weight-loss medication to anyone under 18 or to people with eating disorders.
4) Who should not use these medications?
They aren't right for everyone. Your provider will review your history, including:
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy in the next 2 months
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- History of pancreatitis
- Type 1 diabetes
- Current or past cancer (reviewed case by case)
In animal studies these medications caused thyroid C-cell tumors; it isn't known whether they do in people. If you ever notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath, contact your healthcare provider right away.
5) What are the common side effects?
Most side effects are digestive, especially when starting or increasing a dose: nausea, stomach pain, bloating, indigestion, constipation or diarrhea, plus fatigue or headache. Tell our team about any side effects so we can adjust your plan.
6) How is the dose decided?
Treatment starts at a low dose that our medical team increases gradually, based on your history and how you're feeling. Weight loss is often slower at first while your body adjusts. Results vary from person to person.
7) How long is the program?
Injections are given weekly, usually on the same day each week. Your provider will recommend a program length based on your goals, and we'll check in with you at every weekly visit.
