What Is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy uses panels of LEDs that give off low-level red and near-infrared light while you sit or stand nearby. It does not use UV light and does not tan or burn the skin.
Researchers call it photobiomodulation. The idea is that certain wavelengths of light are absorbed by the energy-producing parts of cells (mitochondria).
This page is for dedicated red light sessions. HaloSauna includes a built-in red light panel during sauna time β a different experience. See HaloSauna.

What the Research Says
What Many Clients Use Red Light For
ββ βΏ ββ
Red light is widely studied, but research quality is mixed and results depend on the device, dose and number of sessions. Here is how clients commonly use it.
Skin Tone & Texture
Some studies found red light sessions over several weeks may support smoother-looking skin and improved skin tone and texture.
Post-Workout Recovery
Research in athletes suggests light before or after exercise may support muscle recovery and reduce post-workout soreness for some people.
Everyday Aches
Many clients use red light as a relaxing add-on for everyday muscle and joint stiffness.
A Simple Wellness Habit
Because sessions are short and have no downtime, many clients pair red light with other recovery amenities.
Most benefits, if any, build over repeated sessions. Red light is not a substitute for medical or dermatology care.
At the Lounge
How a Session Works
ββ βΏ ββ
Before You Begin
- βWe confirm red light is a good fit and explain session length.
- βTell us about any light sensitivity, eye conditions, or photosensitizing medications.
- βClean, product-free skin in the area youβre targeting works best.
During the Session
- βYou sit or stand near the panels for a timed session, usually about 10 to 20 minutes.
- βMany guests feel gentle warmth. Eye protection is provided because the light is very bright.
- βRelax, listen to music or just breathe.
Afterward
- βThere is no downtime for most guests. Mild, short-lived redness or warmth can happen.
- βHydrate and continue your day.
- βConsistency matters β ask about a routine that fits you.
